Kingsway clean sweep
All of Kingsway’s five teams win premierships - C1, C1 Reserve, E3, Ian Dargie Colts, and Integrated.
Spirit of the Game statement developed
The WAAFL introduced a Spirit of the Game Statement. The statement was measured through a weekly survey of coaches and umpires on the way each match was played and watched by spectators. Responses were received from 1959 coaches and umpires representing a 52% response rate. 94% agreed the game was played and watched within the Spirit of the Game.
APP implemented
The WAAFL introduced an APP for the 2014 season. The development of the APP continued the WAAFL’s commitment to full online match day management. Following the WAAFL’s investment with club iPads, the APP provides greater flexibility for score, vote, team sheet and reporting. Scores are instantly uploaded to the APP providing important information to stakeholders. 168,234 APP opens were recorded for the season from 3650 users.
Online player management
The WAAFL introduced online player registration in 2014. The system links with FoxSports Pulse and is designed to reduce club volunteer workloads with the emphasis on the player to register and maintain his information.
First night State Football match
WA hosted the first night amateur representative football match against South Australia at Kingsway Sporting Complex.
Integrated football
The Integrated Football program for players with an intellectual disability continues to grow with Coolbinia West Perth fielding a side and Wembley launching the program at its club and Kingsway fielding a youth team.
Coach inductions
Induction workshops were introduced for WAAFL coaches.
Online
The WAAFL launched a new website in May that has been widely accepted with web traffic across all aspects increased. Facebook engagement grew by 86%, while Twitter followers increased by 56%. The WAAFL also introduced Instagram.
