  • A highly successful inaugural Hall of Champions function was held at the Subiaco Football Club. Five inductees were recognised and honored as champions of the past from amateur football in the categories of coach, administrator, player or umpire. Five former WAAFL players were also acknowledged in the high achievers category where they went from the amateur competition onto higher levels of Australian football as an administration, player or umpire in the AFL, WAFL or the Country Football League.

  • Australian Amateur Football Council (AAFC) sent an under 23 amateur team to South Africa. Four players represented the WAAFL, Damon Bull, Matthew Breen, Nicholas Kommer, Michael McCann as well as General Manager Cameron Agnew, acting AAFC President John Davies and overall tour manager Peter Grosser. The tour was an outstanding success both in advancement of Aussie Rules and as a cultural experience.

  • Five teams Collegians (B Reserve), Bullcreek Leeming (C Gold Reserve), Canning VPSP (D Grade), Whitford (H Grade), Kalamunda (Laurie Keene Colts) went through the season undefeated.

  • Inaugural Administrator of Year award was presented at the Medal Presentation dinner and was won by Fremantle CBC official Adrian Rapanaro.

  • West Coast Eagles U/23 State Amateur team was defeated by 2 points by the South Australian Amateur team at South Fremantle Oval, in the dying minutes of one of the best ever state amateur clashes. WAAFL finished 2nd to Victoria in the triennial national championship series.

  • North Beach A grade Coach, Bill Duckworth won their 7th premiership in a row, this making it 10 titles in 12 seasons under his tenure.
