North Fremantle Amateur Football Club
Baden Pratt is a former Club President that has been actively involved in capturing the club’s history.
He authored the 180-page official history of the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club, The Mighty Maggies of Gilbert Fraser Reserve 1895-2008 and Hell for Leather, the Forgotten Footballers of North Fremantle, which traced the World War I exploits of the 43 North Fremantle players and officials who volunteered to go to war.
Knowing how a footy club can positively influence a young person’s life, Baden has been active with the personal development of the club’s colts players.
He has co-organised several trips overseas and interstate for the colts group including an end of season trip to The Western Front to hold memorial ceremonies at the gravesites or memorials of 10 of the 12 North Fremantle footballers killed in World War I……whereby selected colts players performed the ceremonies.
He ran also 'Job Scheme' to find work for 85 Colts players over three years.
Baden organises the annual ANZAC orientation of Colts players, so they understand and uphold the club’s ANZAC promise.
The ANZAC promise is organised along with club legend Peter Grosser together with the Fremantle City Council; the respective state Local Member; the Bicton RSL; the Catholic Church Fremantle, and Leeuwen Naval Barracks that is attended by all Colts players in a special community North Fremantle ANZAC Day. The day attracts about 800 local residents to hear stories on the forgotten footballers of North Fremantle.
