Hall of Champions Selection Panel 2009 to 2015
Player Wembley Amateur Football Club

An icon at Wembley Amateur Football Club, Subiaco Football Club and throughout the WAAFL, Gerald “Gerry” Stokes is a name that is well recognised around community football in WA. Gerry has dedicated much of his life to amateur football in Perth, including playing and coaching the Wembley A Grade team to a Grand Final in 1962.

Gerry has been involved with many levels of football in Perth over the years, and was a member of the WAAFL Tribunal for an impressive period from 1994 to 2012. During this time Gerry undertook numerous other roles in his football life, including Chairman of the Western Australian Football Commission Hall of Fame from its inaugural year in 2010 through to 2012.

In 2001 Gerry also took on the position of Chairman of the Community Football Council, specifically working with the WAAFL until 2007.  Gerry was awarded the AFL Recognition Award to volunteers of Australian Football in 2003 as recognition for five years contribution to the WAAFL. This certificate was understated as Gerry had dedicated ten years to the WAAFL at this point.

The passionate and dedication that Gerry Stokes has contributed to football in Perth over the past decade is highly impressive and inspirational.

His involvement in community football around Perth is extensive, and deservingly so, Gerry was awarded with a Western Australian Amateur Football League Life Membership in 2013.
