Bruce E. Wainwright has provided outstanding and distinguished service to the WAAFL as an umpire and administrator since 1963.

Bruce umpired over 1,000 games of football across juniors, WA Football Association and WA Amateur Football League and from 1972-2000 was on the Umpire’s Appointment Board.

Bruce was a member of the WAAFL Committee member for 41 years from 1972 to 2013, including 24 years as Secretary. Bruce Tribunal Secretary from 1972 to 1989, was a State team selector from 1976 to 1985, a member of the Reinstatement Committee from 1987 to 2010 and from 1972 to 1994 he and wife Jill collated the weekly scores for publishing in The Sunday Times.

Bruce’s service to football was recognised with WAAFL Life Membership in 1986, an Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and WA Football Commission Life Membership in 2017.
