Milton Sanders began his involvement in amateur football in 1979 with the Mount Hawthorn West Perth Amateur Football Club. He held various roles on the committee between 1979 and 1991. He was Club President from 1985-1988 and again in 1991. For his service, Milton was awarded Life Membership of the Club in 1987.

Milton joined the then Western Australian Amateur Football League Board in 1987.  In 1997 he was elected as Vice President, a position he held for nine years. While on the board, Milton was involved with numerous sub-committees from the Heritage Committee to the Functions Committee and the under 23 State Representative Committee to name a few. He has also been involved with the State Teams and was the coordinator of the State Colts Team from 1988- 1989 as well as the assistant manager of the State Team from 1988- 1991.

Milton represented the Western Australian Amateur Football League on the Australian Amateur Football Championships Committee in 2000.

From 1996-2006 Milton was Secretary/Manager of the Community Football Council Inc (formerly Metropolitan Affiliates Football League).

He has also been involved with the Whitford Junior Football Club from 1989-1997 in many roles, including delegate, Vice President and President as well as the North Suburban Junior Football League as Vice President, President and other sub committees and roles.

Milton was awarded Life Membership of Whitford Junior Football Club in 1997.  Milton was also awarded Life Membership of North Suburban Junior Football League in 2002.

Milton has received various awards from the AFL and the WAFC for his service to Australian Football. This includes the Australian Sports Medal he was awarded by the Australian Government in 2000 for his service to Australian Football.  

Milton was awarded Life Membership of the League in 2002, WAFC Life Membership in 2018 and was inducted into the Hall of Champions in 2019.
