1932

At the Annual General Meeting, Mr J.L Robson was elected as President and Mr B.J Flanagan as Secretary/Treasurer. At a later meeting Mr Mattiske was elected Treasurer.

The Vice Presidents were Mr. R. de Pedro, Mr R.S Sampson, Mr Sandover, Mr J. Orr, Mr R.B Henkel, Mr Scott, Mr Armstrong, Mr J Shearer and Mr G Hearn (Past President). The Patron Mr W.R (Billy) Orr was re-appointed as were the Hon. Auditors Mr E Hiller and Mr A.L Casper.

Armadale, Canning Districts, Canning Bridge and Foy & Gibson applied to join the Association. Also, the Commonwealth Bank applied to re-join after a year of absence. Only two clubs, Commonwealth Bank and Foy & Gibson were admitted joining the existing six clubs.

The new clubs were charged an additional fee of $3.30 ($6.30) on top of the normal application fee of $1.10 ($2.10) & $2 ($4) deposit.

The Secretary was appointed as Publicity Officer to the W.A Amateur Sports Weekly Newspaper. A committee of six (6) Messers Robson, Chapman, Jones, Mattiske, Benett and Flanagan were appointed to deal with the social section of the association and devise ways and means of making additional money to enable to association to perhaps send a representative away at the end of the season to one of the country towns.

A meeting of the umpires was called with the view of it being the means of arriving at a more uniform interpretation of the game and to assist in the purpose, Mr W.R Orr, the secretary of the WANFL was invited and lectured on the subject.

It was reported that there was an ongoing problem with clubs not reporting the result of matches to the League (WANFL) on time and thereby collecting a 2/6 (25c) fine. For the first time all the final games were to be played on WANFL grounds. First semi-final at Claremont Oval, second semi-final at Leederville Oval and the preliminary final and grand finals at Perth Oval.

The admission cost of the preliminary final and the grand finals were set at 6d (5c) with 25 free entries to each of the competing teams. Both the competing teams with the association, bear one third of the costs in the preliminary & the grand finals and any profits shared in the same proportion. In the finals the boundary umpires were supplied by the competing teams – failure to do so attracted a 2/6 (25c) penalty.

Mr C. Watson of the Hurlingham club was acknowledged as the leading goal kicker for the association with 119 goals for the season. The winner of the Fairest & Best, now referred to as the Caris Trophy, was Mr A. Fisher of the University Club. The Grand final was broadcast on two radio stations at a cost of 5/- (50c) each and was won by Postals.
