1925

In 1925, three clubs joined the Association - State Saw Mills, Chas Moore and Winterbottom Motor Co.

Club colours were Commonwealth Bank (Royal blue and gold), Harris Scarf & Sandovers (Maroon with gold lettering), Teachers College (Green and gold), State Saw Mills (Red and white), Winterbottoms (Navy blue and white circle), Water Supply (Black with red hoops), Chas Moore (Royal blue and 6” white band). However, Winterbottoms withdrew prior to commencement of the season.

A new Constitution was accepted (no record of it exists) permitting the inclusion of new clubs.

At the AGM, Mr E. Isaachsen was re-elected as President, whilst the Vice Presidents were one person from each of the seven clubs.

The Association formally registered with the WAFL with the usual fee of  £ 1-1-0 ($2.10). Each club had to pay 1-/6 ($1.05) admission fee to the Association.

Umpires fees were raised from 15/- ($1.50) to £1-1-0 ($2.10). Team captains were responsible for reporting the satisfaction of the umpire’s performance. It is noted that even in those days, officials were concerned about the use of bad language by players on the field. Field umpires were asked to report any offending players .

Registration of players deadline was on 15th July to allow players entering Teachers College mid-year to be registered.

Fixtures and grounds were drawn from a hat and approved by the delegates.

For the first time, all clubs were instructed to have numbers on their guernseys.

Clearances continued to either be approved or refused by delegates.

The cost for the use of the Showgrounds was queried. Other grounds used included the WACA and Lotons Park (Perth Oval). The season opened 2nd May 1925 and each team played 11 qualifying games over three rounds.

An admittance fee of 6d (5c) was charged for all enclosed grounds. Twenty-five ground passes were given to each team.

Only three outside players were allowed to play in each team.

A press correspondent was appointed.

The Association’s Balance Sheet showed receipts of four pounds ($8) while expenditure was three pounds ($6).

Teachers College won their second successive premiership.
