1923

The opening of the second official season saw inaugural President W.R Orr (Billy) step down and Mr E Isaachsen elected. He remained President till the end of 1925. Mr S Hood (Charles Moore & Co) was re-elected as Secretary, Mr J Cummins Treasurer and Mr Allanson Vice President.

The Dunlop Rubber Co joined the Association and amalgamated with WD & HO Wills. Foy & Gibson amalgamated with G & R Wills.

Meetings were moved from WANFL headquarters to the Commonwealth Bank staff clubrooms.

Association President Mr E Isaachsen made “a handsome donation of a gold-medal to be presented to the most unselfish player of this Association”, later called the “Isaachsen Medal". It was not presented in the season “owing to the scarcity of votes received it was considered advisable to carry it forward for presentation in 1924. The Secretary to see that a vote is received from all umpires in each match”.

Three nominations for umpires were accepted. Their fee of 15/- per match ($1.50) remained the same as in 1923. Late in the season, one umpire requested a 5/- (50c) fee increase but was not supported by other umpires.

President Isaachsen stood in as an umpire on two occasions at the Showgrounds.

In the middle of the season, club delegates voted that two of the umpires services be dispensed with. Umpires were instructed to commence matches promptly on time!

Teams were permitted to play up to four former employees in their team who must play at least one match prior to closing of registration on 30th June. The Foy & Gibson - G & R Wills amalgamated team could only play ‘present employees’ .

A Disputes Committee was established by the Association.

Club Secretaries were ‘advised to strictly enforce the wearing of boots and that no player shall be permitted to play in bare or stocking feet.

Teams who played at the Showgrounds each had to pay 10 shillings for its use. This was to be paid by the Friday before each match.

Complaints were made about the difference in payment of the Victoria Park and Esplanade Grounds, and if possible a reduction of the latter. A complaint was lodged to the condition of the dressing room on the Victoria Park ground.
